May 30, 2010 - Winter coats w/rain sheets - new style to contend with snow in May

It is the end of May, but there is snow on the ground and it is still coming down... the horses definitely wanted OUT this morning.  Dariska (Rohdium x Poska), bundled up in her Rambo winter blanket and headed down the foot deep mud of a laneway to get to the fields this morning.  Elise (Flemmingh x Lady W) and Coleman (Obelisk x Cabochon) were bucking in their stalls, anxious to get out and Emile (Chequille Z x Rosinaa) took a swipe at me because I wasn't fast enough with the leg straps. Really glad that they are all so happy about being out in this stuff - the alternative drives everyone nuts.

I am missing the foals this year, but really enjoying seeing the photo's of everyone else's beauties hitting the ground.

Cashew (Johnson x Farrington) will be going for basic training in June and to get in shape for the keuring in September.  I am really interested to watch her progress under saddle, she is such a neat girl.  Super movement and a top dressage prospect that I have been in awe over since birth.

Coleman is hanging out for the summer, doing some growing and maturing after his good start under saddle.

Dariska is moving more like her mother, Poska as she matures- what a gorgeous filly - super feminine type and elegant.

We are breeding Rosinaa to Cardento - and she will be offered for sale in foal. If she doesn't sell to the perfect home - we will have one heck of a jumper prospect born next year for sale!  A Cardento out of the Sinaa line will be a top jumper combination.

We have bought Emile back and he will be staying with us.  I have wanted to keep at least one offspring of each of the mares we imported.  Elise is my Lady offspring, Emile will be the Rosi offspring and Dariska is the Poska offspring.

Zapa, now Zapa (Krack C x Cabochon) is going to be bred to a little German Riding Pony...much to a few Dutch breeders' alarm..... but this is a project for my Goddaughter Ainsley and it should be a fun one.

This downsizing is sort of working - one step forward, half a step back.... On the sales roster is Cashew (after September), Coleman and Rosinaa.  That would bring us down to 5 horses - which is getting more manageable for sure.
